Description

MAK was contracted by Blue Mountains City Council to design and construct a retaining road embankment at Valley Heights. This project aimed to enhance road safety and stability in a challenging mountainous terrain, addressing risks such as erosion and landslides. The retaining structure was designed to support the road and ensure its long-term resilience, particularly in response to the region’s weather conditions.

The scope of works included geo technical assessments, engineering design, and the construction of a durable retaining structure and roadway. MAK also installed drainage systems to manage water runoff and prevent erosion. Throughout the project, there was a strong emphasis on maintaining access for residents and ensuring minimal disruption to the local amenity.

Given the topographical complexity of the site and environmental sensitivity, MAK implemented stringent safety and quality control measures. This project not only improved road safety but also supported the long-term infrastructure goals of Blue Mountains City Council, ensuring the road remained secure and accessible for residents.
